Why did you become a member of the International Atlantic Economic Society?
The first session I attended was in 1999, at the IAES Conference in Vienna, Austria. I had just received my Ph.D. in Economics and joining international conferences was very important and exciting for me. I enjoyed the conferences because it was the best way to know the researchers, learn what people were studying and, of course, was a good opportunity for traveling around the world. I regularly have joined the IAES Conferences, since 1999, organizing sessions, and finally I became a member.
What types of projects/research are you currently working on and what inspired/motivated you to pursue these interests?
My areas of interest are International Economics, Macroeconomic Modelling and Public Economics. I am currently working on the design of policy tools that contribute to the proper interaction of economic policies. My current research focuses on the interaction of monetary and fiscal policies, in the context of open economies and in the peculiar framework of monetary unions, as well as on the use of policy rules.
What advice would you give to someone who is considering entering your line of work/field of study?
Reading a lot, participate in conferences, want to learn and enjoy learning.
Going forward, what other projects/research are you looking to or hoping to pursue?
I would like to write about learning. A lot of people, mainly students, do not properly distinguish learning from acquiring skills or to accumulate knowledge. People trained in some abilities may perform perfectly their task, but they would not able to generate ideas. Learning helps us to internalize concepts and facts, being conscious of the circumstances, but also to be innovative when the environment changes.
What’s your favorite hobby?
Oil painting. I liked drawing since I was a child. I love making all kind of crafts, but my favorite hobby is painting landscapes.
