~December~
Jiří Strouhal Ph.D.
Professor of Economics at the
University of Economics Prague
Professor Strouhal has been a member with the IAES for the better part of a decade now and we are happy to have him as our Member of the Month for the month of December. He has been an active member of the IAES and has participated in the Programs Committee since 2009 and this year we are happy to have him join the members of the Board of Editors for the IAER journal. Outside of his work with the IAES he has authored more than thirty publications in the fields of accounting and financial management.
Why did you become a member of the International Atlantic Economic Society?
The reason why I wanted to become a member is because after participating at a few IAES events I thought it would be in my best interest to become a member.
What do you find most enjoyable about your membership?:
What I find most enjoyable about my membership is the ability to network with other economist from around the globe, access to the journals (IAER/AEJ) and of course the discounts that come with being a member.
Have you held any notable positions within the IAES, (Officer, Board of Editors, Program Committee, etc.) if so, when?:
I’ve regularly been a member of the Program Committee, since 2009, and as of this year I’ll be a member of the Board of the Editors for the IAER journal.
What types of projects/research are you working on and what inspired/motivated you to pursue that interest?:
My research has focused on corporate financial and investment strategies, risk management, international accounting, corporate governance and CSR. Understanding the internationalization of a business is a challenging thing from a researcher perspective because it bring so many new topics to light that then need analyzing.
What advice would you give to someone who is considering entering your line of work/field of study?:
The only advice I can give someone who is considering entering the field is to never give up.
Favorite hobby:
My favorite hobby would have to be traveling. I only need to visit 16 more countries to get 100 total.
