If you recall, what influenced your decision to become a member of the International Atlantic Economic Society?
I wanted to find a place to consistently publish research while serving as a volunteer and IAES provided a clear pathway for me to engage in both!
What types of projects/research are you currently working on and what inspired/motivated you to pursue these interests?
I just finished a paper titled, “Full Employment, the Labor Share, and the Role of the Central Bank” which is part of my dissertation and is currently under review. I am currently working on a paper further investigating the relationship between monetary policy and the distribution of income. I was inspired to work on these topics because of the implications of policy for both workers and firms.
What advice would you give to someone who is considering entering your line of work/field of study?
Economics is incredibly challenging, but it is also very exciting! There are so many different sub-fields and the discipline has evolved to incorporate ideas from other fields such as Biology, Physics, Psychology etc.that make it even more interesting. I would say to those looking to study economics that it takes time to digest the complexity of the concepts, but that over time you will gain a set of skills that can cross over to many different roles and industries.
Going forward, what other projects/research are you planning or hoping to pursue?
I am currently working on research investigating the relationship between measures of underemployment and the distribution of income. I am also hoping to get more involved as a volunteer in my role as certified business economist (CBE) at the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) and as a certified forecaster at the International Institute of Forecasters (IIF).
What’s your favorite hobby?
Playing both tennis and guitar (It is difficult to choose between the two)!
